As you're working on your designs in VistaCreate, grouping and locking objects makes it easier to move groups of objects around or freeze them on your artboard. Read on to learn how to do so.
How to use the Group feature
If you have a bunch of objects or text boxes that you need to edit altogether, group them with the Group feature. By doing so, you’ll be able to scale, move, and align all the elements in one go. You can also duplicate a whole group, move it to another layer, and change the opacity for all objects in one click. Don’t worry; you can easily ungroup elements if needed.
How to group objects:
Step 1: Select all the objects or text boxes you want to group. You can do so by holding the Shift button and selecting all elements one by one. Another way to go is by left clicking and dragging your cursor over all the objects
Step 2: Click “Group” at the top panel of the artboard or use a hotkey combination of Ctrl+G (Command+G for iOS)
To ungroup objects, click the “Ungroup” button at the top panel of the artboard or use the same hotkey combination of Ctrl+G (Command+G for iOS).
How to use the Lock feature
Use the Lock feature if you need certain individual elements or groups to stay untouched while you're editing other parts of your design. When you press the Lock button, all selected objects freeze, so you can't move them across the artboard or layers. However, you can still duplicate them. If you need to edit locked elements or groups, you need to unlock them first.
How to lock objects:
Step 1: Select all the objects or text boxes you want to lock. You can do so by holding the Shift button and selecting all elements one by one. Another way to go is by left clicking and dragging your cursor over all the elements.
Step 2: Click “Lock” at the top panel of the artboard or use a hotkey combination of Ctrl+L (Command+L for iOS)
To unlock objects or text boxes, click at the top panel of the artboard or repeat the hotkey combination of Ctrl+L (Command+L for iOS).
